I learned some time ago that the process of buying a home ranked among the most stressful endeavors one could undertake. I remembered thinking at the time how absurd that sounded. Then my husband, Matt, and I embarked on our own house-buying journey in the San Francisco Bay area, and I quickly came to understand the validity of that claim. Playing house, I soon realized, was vastly different from trying to own a home. If not for Keiko, Matt and I might not have ever had the opportunity to experience the “ownership” part.
